“it’s understanding”

skies will be skies;
don’t let the water be the one to tell you the way to shore.
i hold a likeness and i really don’t like it when the colors fade,
or it’s said some other way.
it’s understanding what is useless, it’s way too sure.
my shadow is not your shape,
and the waves aren’t the same as people sleeping,
or walking away.
and the fire spread around, and it formed the shape we saw
on the news last night; but today, we can’t explain.
